Lancombes House is ideally positioned for visiting the Jurassic Coast. England’s first natural UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of only 154 world-wide, the 95 miles of coastline from Exmouth to Portland are a walk through 185 million years of earth’s history.
With the oldest in the west, the Site includes rocks from the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods and the best place to find fossils is acknowledged to be in West Dorset.
The nearest point to us is West Bay (5 miles) but Charmouth (13 miles) and Lyme Regis (16 miles) are world famous for fossil collecting and you have a good chance of finding fossils loose on beaches in this area.
